(Budget flights) Five Nifty Traveler Tips You Will Enjoy

By Richard Sootkoos

I sure do like to travel. In my life plan, the most important elements to my existence are are family, health, happiness and travel. Fortunately for me I have been able to combine all of these elements in one big happy life package.

Here are five humerous but useful travel tips that I picked up over the last 2 decades from traveling around the globe. From the ruins of Machu Picchu to the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, as well as 40 of the 50 states, here are just a few of my long list of travel nuggets for local travel in the beautiful united states. I have accumulated these particular ones over the last 5 years, and best of all they don’t cost a dime!

1. The Versatile Hotel Coffee Packets: While traveling in the Midwest, I almost suffocated in my economy rental car that smelled of dog and body odor. Out of desperation, I placed the coffee filter pack from my hotel on the dashboard hoping to act as perfume. To my surprise, not only did the car adopt the cozy aroma of ground coffee, the filter bags actually seemed to absorb the odors in about a day.

2. Getting Full Use of the Campfire: When camping in the Sonoran desert, we build a warm fire when the sun set to keep us warm while we ate our dinner. Remembering a story I read when I was a boy, I placed four medium sized river stones around the fire (not in the fire). When we were ready to go to bed, I wrapped each of the rocks in a bath towel. Please note that they were hot but not sizzling to the touch. To make a long story short, we all slept like warm babies with our little packages in our sleeping bags that night!

3. Customize Your Luggage: When the cheap plastic wheels broke on my suitcase, I decided to replace them with an old pair of Rollerblade wheels. My suitcase lasted another five years and the gliding of the wheels were so much smoother and quieter that I replaced all my other luggage wheels with them.

4. Put Your Library Tax Dollars to Use: I own a timeshare in Hawaii. One day I discovered that as a local property tax payer I qualified for a library card. I don’t know if you have been to a library lately, but now when I am on vacation I can rent CDs and DVDs and best of all its closer than the nearest Blockbuster.

5. Let Technology Be Your Guide: If you want to get more detailed information on a desired destination, consult YouTube and Google. With YouTube you can find lots of people who post videos of their trip. This will give you a good feel for the true lay of the land rather than some post production masterpiece that was paid for by your resort. Use Google satellite to see what the actual terrain looks like and if your short walk to the beach requires crossing a four lane highway.

Travel to be Healthier
By Jerry Waxman

Everywhere you go, every time you turn on the tv or radio, you see and hear reminders that “These are troubled times.” Are these messages of any use?

The number one remedy: Travel

If you look around, you’ll see that stores are still open, and people are still going about their daily routines. And that’s how it should be. Part of the routine must include taking a vacation

We may not be able to do much about how our leaders handle the economy. But we do control how we react. Just because the government has said there is an economic crisis does not mean we all should have a personal crisis.

The best reactions to an economic crisis are either:
1. Find ways to make more money, or
2. Take a vacation, or
3. Both

I can’t show you how to make more money. I can tell you why taking a break is the best thing you can do for yourself and your family:

Think of it this way: A vacation is a short retreat from routine. Whether you have a great job or a dull existence, everybody gets stuck in daily and weekly routines.

A vacation reduces stress. That is the greatest value of a vacation. Stress causes illness; mental illness and physical illness. When you take away stress, you become healthier.

Scientists have found that workers become more productive after a break from routine. Not only laborers, but also managers, executives, and creative professionals notice a surge in productivity after they take a vacation.

The reason is linked to stress and health. The more stress you’re under, the less healthy you feel. The less stressed you are the better you feel. When you feel good, you do good work.

There may, indeed, be harder times ahead, due to the economy and world problems. They should not keep us from taking vacations

The worse thing that we can do is allow these difficulties to cause us undue stress. Stress will only make things worse; worse for our emotional and physical health. And worse still for our financial health.

The best thing we can do is take a break. Get away for a while. Improve our health by taking away anxieties from our lives for a while. Then we can go back to our routines healthier and more productive people.

Everybody on this planet ought to go on vacation together. That would not only remove everyone’s anxieties, it might solve all the world’s problems.

Travel for health, for the health of your family, and for the good of your country and the world.

Private Planes
By tudor

In a world where speed is on the first place, and time is money, transport will be modernized. To fly has become the fastest way to travel. But for business today, usual flights are no longer sufficient. If you have a meeting in Rome at 09.00, at 14.00 you have to check out the works in London, and at 18.00 you must solve an emergency situation in Paris, it remains one solution: private plane.

More and more important people in the world of international business are willing to pay small fortunes to buy their own aircraft to ensure a fast connection between their routes. Besides, if this trend has become an important pawn in obtaining revenue from business, is also a source of cost recovery because it can be hired when you take a break from bussines.

Costs are high when it comes to aircrafts. A small aircraft, with only 4 places and conditions not just at the highest standard starts from at least 5 million dollars. For a wooden interior, air conditioning and a larger number of seats the price can reach 10 million dollars. Some of the most expensive private jets have bedrooms, impeccable bathrooms, at least one conference room and space dedicated specifically to serving food. Capacity is between 24 and 63 people plus another 3-6 places dedicated for the crew. One of the largest aircraft has a usable area of 75 square meters, equivalent to a spacious apartment with 2 rooms. But the most expensive private aircraft of all time is the Gulfstream V-SP, whose acquisition cost is $ 45 million. For a businessman whose purpose is to control its people and businesses at any price, even at high cost that plane price becomes acceptable.

Besides business people who are always “on the run” and hold such aircraft, celebrities also own their private planes. Personalities who enjoy a very high notoriety like Celine Dion, Bill Gates and Steven Spielberg have at least one private jet but the list continues with a lot of other celebrities.
